We've had it for about 15 years, in our family room, with a dog (zero cats) for 8 years, and weekly deep vacuuming (in a shoes-off-while-inside, never-any-smoking household). So it's stained, but pretty clean (no smell) & solid/ready for heavy use.
We had it cut to size & thus professionally edged, but our dear little house rabbit chewed on some of the edges (as evident in 2nd photo).

PS We vacuumed before taking photos & rolling up the carpet, so the photos who the vaccuum lines (as well as the indentations for 1 long couch's legs & 2 single-person sofas' metal base edges).
